God speaks in more than one way. Before Jesus, He was very vocal and visual. Now, after Jesus saved us, He speaks to us differently. The people in biblical day's didn't have the bible to go to for answers, we do. God had to show himself to the elite few in some way or another. Now faith through Jesus Christ is the only way. I hope you are a Christian just wondering about something, and if you are not I hope that you will become one soon. My answer is just my opinion, but I feel like God speaks to me through sermons that come along at just the right time to really make me sweat in church, and He speaks to me when I am quiet and give Him a chance to, Some of the things that I've thought about was in no way my own thoughts. He can speak without a voice being heard. Pray, and when He knows it is time, you will hear him. Have faith that He can and He will.

He still talks just as he did then, but he whispers and we never stop to listen. If he spoke loudly the earth would tremble. So if you want to hear the Holy Spirit, you have to find a quite place and listen for the whisper....also, the Bible says that if you are full of sin and living in sin, that God cannot hear you, you have to be clean first and confese with your mouth openly about your sins and ask Jesus into your heart, mind, body and soul.

Wow, "so often?" eh? How often exactly is that? Seth, then a few thousand years later, Noah? Abraham, then a couple of hundred years later Moses?
And in the last couple of hundred years, we've had Joan d'Arc, who I believe was a prophetess and recieved messages from God.
So, I'd say he's still at it.

He still does. You just have to listen for him as the prophets of old did. You can't hear him watching t.v. and by eating your fill. You can't hear him by overindulging yourself and living the way you want to. You have to seek Him out and he will talk to you. He has talked to me.
