Several people have had the right answer here, if you at least eat some lean protein like fish or chicken and maybe a salad you'll do fine. a small meal is better than no meal at all, just keep it light.

the bigger thing is not skipping meals.

since you're in athletics, you'll need more energy to maintain what you're body burns daily and replace that with that extra 970 cals to replace the energy you're burning with the increased physical activity so your body can maintain the full potential.

never scrimp on your meals, but you don't wanna overeat the caloric intake by much; otherwise your body'll store it as fat.

also when you sleep, your body is still burning the food you've eaten from the previous meal (dinner) to repair or rebuild muscle tissue that has broken down, or any injuries you've recieved because that's the best time for your body to repair itself is when you're asleep and not as active; almost like rerouting electricity from a burned out transformer in a street light and sending it to support another grid in town, your body works the same way by taking the rest time to use all it's energy toward repairing itself.

that's why it's called breakfast, because your breaking the fasting period that you're body does at night and you're restoking the fires for the next day.

you may've heard the dietician say you might want to eat four to six small meals a day (I myself do this daily), not large meals with all the trimmings and side dishes, but something that's just enough to keep the fires burning in your metabolism which is the main component of how your body breaks down your intake of food and liquids to fuel your body for daily activities.

You should never skip any meals. If you went over on calories at one meal then just eat a lower calorie meal at the next. There are all kinds of things you can eat, and still be satisfied, without consuming 1000 calories.

Of course you should eat dinner. A light one will be fine, with lots of veggies and some lean protien. If you don't eat, your body goes into starvation mode and will start to feed off of itself, attacking muscles and vital organs. Plus, if you are on any type of medication, you need to eat because some meds can't be taken on an empty stomach, and they can have an intensified effect when you aren't eating.

Never skip meals. You will lose muscle. Something you don't need to do if you are playing footbal? (It is real football right? not that pansy crap they play in europe?)

Skipping meals decreases your metabolism and causes your body to dump muscle as it is the most costly part of your body (muscle requires more energy to keep than fat), if you don't have enough fuel, muscle gets dumped first.

yes, you should always eat. You just get into a binge/starve cycle if you don't. Just have something light, like a salad and soup so your system doesn't start storing fats.

yes eat, because if you skip meals, your not loosing weight. like bullemic and anerexic people, if they dont have anything, it starts to eat the muscles.

always eat.
