If caves exist, they are either not on US Park Property or closer to Hagerstown than Great Falls.

The second poster's first link appears to be a practice run for spelunking techniques used in caves since no actual cave was used or seen in any of the pictures.

One of the links mentions that Maryland is a property rights state and you need permission from the property owner if you want to explore a cave on private property.

http://www.wemsi.org/var_caves.html gives a list of accessible caves in Maryland.

There used to be an active gold mine at Great Falls, but it's been fenced off and isn't accessible any more.
What I found out is that there has been cave training in the Great Falls area, but I didn't find anything about actual caves http://www.vkelman.com/training/greatfalls-04-28-2002/index.htm
Here are 2 sites about the geological sites in MD. http://www.mgs.md.gov/esic/features/index.html

On this second site, you might check out the US Geological Survey report on the Great Falls area http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2001/of01-188/ You might find something there.
Sounds interesting...hope you find something!
