I suspect that people in third world countries have to work so hard to live and take care of their families that they do not often suffer from depression as we do here.
One of the symptoms is a feeling of hopelessness. I am sure many third world people feel hopeless constantly but it is not depression when they have a valid reason for feeling this way.

Most people in third world countries don't have time to be depressed, they are too busy finding food and dodging bullets. Those that do get depressed don't live long.

If they are in a third world country then they probably would never know that they are depressed.

They kill themselves. I just read a report that Lithuania has the highest suicide rate in the world, followed by Russia.

They get over it or they die. But they are probably to busy worry about how they are going to eat rather than silly things we worry about.
