my husband is a seabee. it actually stands for Construction Battalion (CB). they are technically in the US Navy but work more with the Marines on land. my husband has never been on a ship. Seabees are mechanics, builders, plumbers, electricians, heavy equipment operators. not sure what else you'd like to know but that is some basic info...

Yes!
The Sea Bees Are Naval Construction units that do all of the Civil engineering work for the Navy and Marines. They build airfields, port facilities, housing, roads & defenses. They got started durring WW 2 After the lost of civilian contractors on Wake Island. The Navy needed skilled construction people rather than seamen or marines to do the job. So the formed the CB's( Construction Battalion) Then that got made into the catchy nickname,"seabees" & the Walt Disney logo.

John Wayne made them famous in his movie, "the fighting Seabees."

Seabees kick @ss, they are Builders, Equipment Operators, Mechanics, Iron Workers, Plumbers, Engineering Aides, and Electricians. And they get involved in Combat if they have too, and they are well trained, they are always training. And while they are doing their jobs, they got an M-16 wrapped around their arm.

I have always thought that the Navy is the best branch, and the answer is easy: Navy Seals, Marines, Navy Seabees.

But i'm still joining the Army.

How true and correct you are. I'm very proud to be not only a member of the Navy but to have worked with SeaBees, and SEALs and to be in love with a Marine. Its wonderful. I love the SeaBees and the SEALs, obviously the Marines.

I'm actually what you consider "unrated" meaning I don't have a specific job in the Navy yet and I'm considering being a SeaBee.

As a Marine, if I were to have the alternative. i'd bypass SeaBee. Ive spent some months with those adult adult males in Iraq and they were very close knit crew. Plus your construction crap that you'll easily use the talents out aspect of the protection stress after your settlement is up. do not ignore that the 5 years contains about a million.5 years of faculty.

They are the Naval Construction Engineer Corps. They too are under the Dept of the Navy. The Construction Battalions are made up into two units, PHIBCBs and NMCBs.

I'm so glad you asked.

SeaBees are an unusual and highly adapted species of ocean going honey bee. SeaBees serve a vital role in marine biology by pollinating kelp, and other ocean flora. The honey they produce has a unique brine flavor and has been prized for centuries, especially by the Aleuts and Thingumi peoples. SeaBee colonies are large floating structures that resemble giant fedora hats. If close enough, an observer may hear the loud, wet buzzing sound made by the colony, especially at night. Besides Brine Honey, SeaBees produce a special royal jelly that is phosphorescent, giving off flashes of green-blue light. These flashes are used by the hive as a beacon for its residents to home in on, and some scientists speculate that they may also serve to communicate with other SeaBee hives.

So now you know.
