Amnesty supporters and border
security advocates faced off last
night in the streets of Escondidio,California
over a new law passed,
prohibiting landlords from renting
apartments to the estimated
35,000 illegal aliens who live there.
The city council voted
3-2 in support of the measure.
Now the ACLU says it plans to sue....

Finally, the cities are taking a proper stand. What the Federal Government won't do the States and Cities must.

Is this unfair? I don't think it is. If employers can be fined and prosecuted for hiring illegals then landlords should face the same.
Most of them do a credit check so why not a citizenship check as well using the exact same documentation an employer requires for visa/citizenship verification. birth cert SS# passport drivers lic. etc
It isn't as if they didn't know they were here illegally.
I do pity the kids but this law does nothing but enforce the spirit of legislation already on the books.
my main concern is how enforcing the illegal alien laws will affect the current anti-discrimination laws for rental property

i became gazing an episode of "Dragnet" on truly a kind of classic television stations. Friday and Gannon were visitors on a community present day activities panel communicate, and an target market member angrily requested them a question about gun administration. The law enforcement officials were on the gun administration aspect, and the target market theory they must be able to have inspite of gun they needed on each occasion they needed, for protection. Dragnet became set in l. a.. eerie

I heard of it because i live in the San Diego area. I saw a landlord being interviewed he was a caucasian male, older in his mid 60's i think, and he said that he wouldn't have the heart to deny anyone a place to live regardless of immigration status. I don't think the majority of landlords will enforce it, but you never know. I also think it's unfair...what about the children.

No, that's going way too far. It's not like these people are terrorists plotting to blow the country up. I wonder why they didn't make a similar law against terrorists like the ones that blew up our WTC. They got to come here legally, fly planes, live and breathe as if they were Americans themselves, and they always had a place to live. It's not ok to rent to illegals but it is to known terrorists? (They knew they were terrorists and STILL let them in! Talk about homeland security at its best!)

The city should sue the ACLU for trying to stop us from enforcing our laws. When you have a weak and corrupt government like the one we have now,the Nation is in danger. Mexico would never stand for this in their country, but they keep sending us their uneducated and criminals, and draining our social services, hospitals, and schools.

I think it's fair. I personally would not rent to anyone who was here illegally. I think if you want to live here and have the same rights as us, you shouldn't just be able to come over and assumem it. They should have to work for it and not be given a free pass.
