How? One day at a time, and sometimes struggling through life one minute, or second at a time. Disappointment, lack of compassion in their lives, no one to care about them....or if they do....maybe they don't really understand.
For many people life really is the school of hard knocks. It was for me & it's still a struggle some days. It took me years to realize that I have some small control over my own life. I have choices that I didn't have when I was younger. And that's empowering, though not easily believed at first.
The biggest choice comes when a person realizes that they really can choose to work at being happier, giving compassion that maybe they've never received, and offering warmth where once there was only ice.
In short, the coldness & hate give the saddness the impetus to form a survival shield that might just cover a very wounded heart and soul.

I hate to let you in on a little secret, but this site is not real life. The way people act on here could be a complete 180 to how they really are. I could be a mother of four or a Thai drag queen for all you know. A better question would be why are some people on this site so naive?

well some ppl cant controll it. The world does not treat everyone very fair. Some ppl are ugly and are always mad. this can be coupled with sadness and self pitty. Some ppl have been hurt so much made fun of or ignored so much that they are so hurt that thier hearts have become cold. Dont blame them, at least now they have a way of expressing themselves that way they dont bottle stuff in and they explode.

By dwelling on these subjects, allowing outside input like t.v. news, entertainment, and negative words by others. You must think about what you are thinking about and CHOOSE a good happy and healthy life. It does not come by itself. Read Joyce Meyer's Battle field of the mind for more info. People who know where they are going, plan for the trip. Others allow life to attack them. Another book would be Rick Warren's Purpose driven life.

I felt just that way 4 years ago. When there is no up then you go inside. Those very things can eat at a person's soul. It lasted for a couple of years for me. I was finally able to let it go and move on. I am soooooooo much better now. Life is real good. I am content. Thanks for asking.

Emotions do not control people. People make choices, and the choice to react with a specific emotion is one of those.
If someone treats you poorly, you have the choice to accept their abuse and either internalize it or reject it (another choice) - or you can choose to strike out, lash back and treat them poorly.
Everything is about choices, in the end.

My ex husband is a person who let the world beat him like that. It must be a very dark place. I'm too stubborn to give in! I will remain happy, positive and loving!!

Because it is the logical conclusion of their past experiences and their current sensory input.
Same reason does anyone does anything. Understand a person's past and the stimuli to which they are exposed and you understand everything they will do.

This is people's way of coping with bad things that they've seen or have had happen to them. If only they would turn to God, things would be so much more fulfilling.
