They should not exist. Notice what 1 Corinthians 1:10 says;
"Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."
Why do we have so many? Men are not satisfied to all speak the same thing. Men are not satisfied to teach only the word of God. Men are not satisfied to only speak where the Bible speaks, and be silent where the Bible is silent. Men are not content to do Bthings in Bible ways and call Bible things by Bible names. Too many wish to add their own desires and teach their own doctrine.
Notice 2 Timothy 4:2-4.
"Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

There was only the Catholic Church to start with, then people started thinking they knew more than the next person and splitting off then so on and so on and so on. It started with an unbelief in the authority of the Pope--now we have a gazillion different people who think they are the Pope.

There can be only one truth. And, the Bible says "One body ther is, and one spirit, even as you were called in th one hope to which you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all (persons), who is over all and through all and in all." The best religion would be the one religion which teaches truth according to the way Jesus lived. He was sent here to teach us about God. He died to make a way for us to reconsile with God. Keep looking and praying and God will reveal the truth to you.

how could an all knowing all powerful god allow this to happen? Does it make any rational sense? If "God" wanted everyone to hear his words, why would there be so many religions that disagree so much? Why would their be so much war, and hate over religion?
The whole thing makes no sense at all.

of course one is supposed to be "better" than the other. otherwise they wouldnt have split from each other. not all christians agree on the same thing, they have different interpretations etc, so they start their own thing that highlights what they think is important. same for other religions.
