The easiest way, but not the only way, to become a Seal is to join the Navy first, go thru boot camp, and then volunteer for the Seals. As far as the pay is concerned, you'll get paid the same amount of money that every other serviceman gets that is in your pay grade. You will get, however, various amounts of money over and above your normal pay grade providing your in a war zone, hazardous duty pay if your in a hazardous area, flight pay for flying, etc, etc. The bottom line is your not going to get rich no matter what your pay grade is, or how many "special pay" dollars you receive. Oh, and one last thing. The majority of people who volunteer for the Seals wash out.

no clue what written test he was talking about but it is easy to try out when and if you go in you can tell your requiter that you want to vol for seals when you finish boot camp you cant take the entritry test ie running alot and a few other things but check with a recruiter

i think if you are wanting to do it for the money you are doing it for the wrong reasons. when going to school at nab coronado i saw a bunch of seal trainees at the mess hall and they did not look too good.
