While on the depo shot it is normal to miss your periods... How your body acts on birthcontrol is very individualized b/c everybody is different. Some people have had a good experience with this (not having any periods, not gaining any weight) while others had a bad one with the common side effects of the depo (weight gain, spotting, blood clots, etc). This is my opinion so take it however you would like...I would absolutely get off of that shot, if the not having a period is what you are after, I would go with something like Seasonale ( you have your cycle every 3 months- 4 times a year) I was on it and I didn't have any breakthrough bleeding, no weight gain, etc. The only thing is be very cautious when taking these contraceptives where you skip periods, if you were to get pregnant (and you CAN on BIRTH CONTROL) you have no real way of knowing because missing a period is normal on these contraceptives.

Yes,it's normal but I had a period for some months when I was on the depo, but I got off cuz I was loosing too much blood. Then it made my 22 yr old sister(younger) gain up to 250 lbs her height is 4'11 that's rediculous. And my baby sister is 19 it made her gain 30 to 40 lbs and she has gotten real bad blood clots from it.Becareful which birth control method you take now I'm not taken any but you don't have to but if you don't want anymore babies take it.I'm alright and I don't have anymore children yet and it's been a year since I've not taken the depo shot and I have sex with my husband every night no babies, you just have to know what ur doing.

Yes i was on depo for about 2 years and the second I got the shot I stopped having my period. The only problem with that is that it takes you 6 months to year to become normal again.

Yes it is normal.. In fact I didn't have mine for months while on the depo shot. For me I would not have my cycle until it was time to take another shot. Then my cycle was really heavy and uncomfortable, so I switched birth-control methods, but its a personal choice.

The depo shot stops your menstrual cyle all together. So you shouldn't get a period...be careful with the depo shot...I was on it for 6 months and it stopped my body from ovulating all together.
