I also go swimming five days a week and what helped my hair the most was using a bathing cap. If you do be sure to went your hair down in a shower before putting it on. After I started using one my hair stoped being so dry and the color did not change. Also if it very dry try putting a hair conditioning on it before you put the cap on.

Aah! My specialty!!! Every time you go swimming, EVERY TIME you should thoroughly rinse your hair with tap water. your hair is like a sponge, it will soak up liquid and the chemicals in the liquid...if your hair is ALREADY wet, well, you cant get a soaking wet sponge any wetter!!! and the chlorine wont be able to penetrate. afterwords, shampoo if you must, but if you have been swimming conditioner will help add some moisture back into your hair. try it without washing and see how it goes...
bet your hair feels better within a week!! BY THE WAY- conditioner will only rinse right off, use it if you feel you must, but it wont make a diff if your hair is already wet, it will only rinse off in the water.

It sounds wierd, but slop a bunch of conditioner on your hair before you go swimming. Don't wash it out. It will slowly wash itself out as you swim, but your hair will be protected for most of the time. And, you don't have to wear a dorky swim cap. lol

When my son was on the swim team, there was a conditioner that he used that was designed or marketed to swimmers. It was supposed to mitigate the damage. I'll try to find out what kind it was, and post an update if I find it.

if you refuse to wear a swim cap, put conditioner on your hair and leave it on before you get in the pool, it will seal it for a while. then use a deep conditioner (any drug or beauty store will have it). after you get out.
