I don't know if its just me but from a guy's perspective there is nothing like a girl in a red dress.
It just grabs the eye.
A wedding is supposed to be centered around the bride and as such you stealing the show in that red dress of yours probably wouldn't go so well! Don't worry though i'm sure you'll still look great! Cheers

What kind of wedding? If you go to an Indian wedding the bride wears red! Guests, therefore, should not. Similarly, under the European tradition that guests avoid wearing white, as that steals the thunder of the bride, who traditionally wears white.

I have never heard of this either. Maybe iti s because there is so much white around, especially flowers. In a hospital ward nurses will never put red and white flowers in the same vase. because it is said to invite a death.

Red is a very abrazen color. It naturally diverts the eyes. That's why babies toys are mostly red. That's why store signs are usualy red. People see it more quickly than they would other more toned down colors. It is a superstition that its bad luck to wear red to a wedding. However it is just a superstition. I think people attending a wedding should be wearing modest clothing in both color and how much skin they bare. All attention should be on the bride and groom. However if the wedding is in a darker or evening type setting I don't suppose it would be as inappropriate. If in doubt ask the bride. If she has objection to it then don't wear red. If you don't know her well enough to ask such an odd personal question... ditch the red and wear something else.

I have never heard of this. But I was told that if you are a girl, you should not wear white to a wedding, because the bride's dress is white so the white is for the bride, unless your a bride's made and the bride picked up a white dress for you.

It's too bright and calls attention to you too much. Also, some older folks consider it a color associated with prostitutes.
However in some Asian cultures I understand it is the bridal color.

I have never heard the superstition of not wearing red at a wedding, but I do know it is supposed to be very unlucky to wear green at weddings especially in May and June, green in may you will rue the day, green in June, marriage over soon, old wives tales basically, maybe many moons ago someone wore green to a wedding in either May or June and things went wrong for that couple so the old wives took it upon themselves to say green was unlucky at weddings from that day forward, sometimes you wouldn't go out of the door if you believed all the old wives tales.
