According to a book my wife read on menopause, this is absolutely true for women at that age.

As menopause progresses, failure to stimulate the nerves in that area tends to lead to loss of responsiveness. Also, the glands that provide lubrication do not function as effectively if they are not "excercised" enough.

So yes....in menopausal women, if they don't "use it" they tend to "lose" the desire, as well as the ability to physically react.
