I am 32 years old, and I have had eczma for all of my life. When I get really bad break outs, I have to be put on prednisone to get it to clear up. I have been to a dermatologist, and I have tried every single thing they have told me from expensive creams to soaps to vegetable oil baths to not bathing but once a week. And that was miserable. My mom bathed me in bleach once. My 4 year old has it also, and his is not as bad. Only somewhat, but the dr. put him on betpmethasone dipropionate cream. It works really well on him. The ellidell did nothing for him at all.
Allergies (my son can't have any acid) are a cause to an extent, and you will not take me seriously... but I am allergic to everything just about. Including my own body. And while I was pregnet it was my children. Beware of allergy free, it still contains stuff in in that may cause irritation. And your body does become immune to things. I can't use the same lotion or shampoo or soap 2 weeks in a row. Changes in the water causes problems. Keep the skin hydrated as much as you can. And cool. Sweating can upset it too. I don't know what else to tell you because I am still trying to figure it out. Email me if you have any questions I can help you answer. I feel your pain and frustrations.

Did you breast feed? How long? It's necessary, not an option. The milk jump starts the babies digestive and immune systems. Too late for that, I'm afraid. Maybe next time.
Have you considered food allergies? My son had eczema, the doctor's called it atopic dermatitis for a while, then changed the name after we kept bugging them. They're quite stupid and kept treating it as a skin condition. Fact is skin conditions are rarely due to bad skin. The skin is an organ and the body will push things out that way when other ways are not working. Seek information on getting her onto a proper diet. Eczema, except for contact dermatitis or bacterial/viral/parasitic influences, is a digestive problem, not a skin problem.

LISTEN TO ME! MY DAUGHTER HAD ECZEMA SO BAD IT USED TO PUSS AND OOZE. THE DOCTORS TOLD ME EVERYTHING FROM HYDROCORTIZONE TO APPLYING VASELINE THEN COVERING HER CHEEKS WITH SARAN WRAP. IT ONLY GOT WORSE! I WENT TO A DERMATOLOGIST AND THEY PRESCRIBED "DESONIDE CREAM" FOR HER. SHE WAS 2 WHEN SHE HAD ECZEMA AND IS NOW 9 AND HASN'T HAD IT SINCE!! IF YOUR CHILD SCRATCHES TRY PUTTING MITTENS ON THEM SO SHE WON'T INFECT HER AREAS WITH HER NAILS. IF YOU NEED MORE INFO WRITE ME rosary_layne@yahoo.com
