I wish I spent less money on flowers for the place settings. No one really cared that the orchids were flown in and hand picked. They wilted by the end of the reception and I wasted $2500.00. I wish I spent less money on silk invitations. No one had them and the money could have gone to savings instead. I wish I spent less money on the dress. Vera Wang and I can't even get into it and why would I. I wish I spent less money on the the runner for the aisle. I wish I would have spent the money on my honeymoon and extended it and a down payment for the house. All the money that was spent and it just went by so fast. If I could do it again, I would have put the money into my future.

Less money on - Alcohol. We *way* overestimated the beer and wine consumption (but then the caterer didn't do a particularly good job of letting folks know we had beer and wine, so it was a two-fold problem).

Disposable cameras. Because we had some folks who were unable to come last minute, we had several unused or partially-used cameras. We probably could have gotten away with only about 75% of the number we got.

I'm really hard-pressed to think of anything that came up "short" that I wish we had spent more money on. The only thing *maybe* would to have had a rehearsal, so we all knew what to expect a little better. But with only two people standing up, it wasn't that big of an issue. Overall it was wonderful, I thought.

First I have to say I had a nice wedding, mostly just close friends and family. But I wish we eloped, by the end of the night I was starving and my feet were killing me and 6 yrs later I really don't remember specifics about the day. And the money we would have saved on the wedding would have gone to a down payment on a house.

I wish I hadn't done it!
Really, I wish that I hadn't let my Mom influence my dress decision. I wish I had not been such a wuss about paying for things that the guests should have covered on their own. (I ended up paying for tuxes, the bachelor party, some hotel rooms, and airfare because I arranged for that stuff, but some of the folks just assumed that I meant to pay for all that stuff.)
Get a good photographer.
Don't spend a lot of dough on invites, or cake.
My wedding really was great, but you should know that the wedding, really isn't for you. It's all gone in seconds.
If I could do it over, I'd elope, and throw a party when I got back.
Good luck

At first I wanted to go to Vegas....but...my husband is an only child and had never been married. I had been married briefly when I was just out of high school. His parents demanded we have a moderate wedding....so we told them to help pay for some of it! The day ended up being beautiful...much to my dismay since I voted for Vegas. It was alot of stress and we had a few mishaps. We noticed at the wedding that the YEAR was wrong on our napkins. The Jugde that married presented us as Mr. and Mrs. ************ which wasnt either one of us name--lol. We had 250 guest with a social hour, reception, and supper followed by a dance. I guess the only thing i would change would be the time we left for our honeymoon.....we didnt get gone until everyone else was...dont know why....just happened that way.

I wish I'd spent less money on the church decorations. No one noticed! The place looked fine without it all. I can't think of anything that I wish I'd spent more money on.

I loved how everything turned out. I wouldnt have changed anything except I wish we had time to take off from work so that we could've gone on a honey moon right away... now we are planning on taking one in may of 07, which is fine because we will have more money to spend on it, but It would have been nice to go right after the wedding and get away.. But we did go to a really nice hotel in New Buffalo MI, which has one of the top 10 nicest beaches in the world. I loved it. I love him... Im so happily married i scare myself sometimes. hahhaa

No regrets -- my suggestions --
Spend a lot on photography and video, as you may not remember, or even see all of the day. The photos and video will be the story, and the best keepsake of all. Also, flowers, chair covers and a pretty cake all add to the ambience. And, of course, get a dress, hair & make-up and veil and tiara that you love. Most of all, have your wedding day be peaceful and loving. No family fights, etc. Best wishes

More money on decorations-candles, twinkle lights, etc. Our DJ was awesome but I would have like to have walked down the isle to a 4 string quartet or something like that. We got married on a wine vineyard and were planning to have an outdoor wedding but it poured and had to be moved into the reception hall. I would have loved to been able to get married at a beautiful cathedral Church (am not catholic) and them had the reception at a beautiful hotel downtown.
Less money-We were really good about shopping around for EVERYTHING and getting the best price possible. I couldn't control it, I shopped around and got the best price, but I wish the flowers were cheaper. They were beautiful, smelled great, and everyone loved them, but they die. We left for our honeymoon to Rome the next morning and I wasn't able to save my bouquet. :(
