Fighting over religions?

Question

People think that they can convert other people to their religion by killing others.
People from every religion do that, christians, muslims and every single one.
In my opinion that is wrong because God told people to show love to one another.

Why do people then think that killing others will make other people belive in their god?

First off, religions do not kill people. People kill people. Religion has long been used as an excuse to kill people.

Second, neo-pagans do not kill others. Nor do Buddhists. Nor Amish. Nor Jews. Nor Mormons. Nor most Christians or Muslim that I know. You're letting a handful of people represent the main. That's called stereotyping.

Third, people do not kill with the idea of converting to the beliefs; they kill others because they believe that their religion is superior, and any that do not agree with it should perish. It isn't about converting people to your god, it's about making certain that no other god besides your is worshipped. Anywhere.

Edit: Someone said that God doesn't like being used as a weapon. Well then, why doesn't He come down here and show His displeasure? Sitting in the infinity and brooding about it does... what?

Well, I have yet to see Modern Pagans or Jews do this. So I would have to say I disagree with the "every religion" part. Another point, it is your God which says to love one another. That doesn't mean all those other God's agree with that statement.

And the main reason why people do it is because they feel that is the only way to prove how right they are. Convert or die and live eternally in our "hell".

well the truth is, that conquest used religion an excuse to conquore ppl. These conquorers, didnt care about religion. Its always been financial goals that led to this. You see the goverments back themn needed to get the peoples support to go conquore other countries to look for gold and stuff, but they were not going to say that. They said, we are catholics or muslims, it is gods wil that we convert others in the world to save thier souls. So we must tax you to go to the americas or something. And the stupid ppl would be like, yeah go save thier souls, well give you more tax money, and ill get more points for my entrance into heaven. Its so retarded.

Religion is power, past present and future. History is litered with dead bodys religion has left behind. Religion #1in killing. Anyhow the more people that belive your religion the more power. If another religion is in your area it reduces ur power. you either have to convert or eliminate.

They aren't really trying to convert these people. Look at the Crusades. There was no real effort at Conversion. Just like the situation Ireland the goal was to kill or drive off the people of other faiths.

killing others doesnt make converts to that religion. the only major "Christian" religion that has killed on a grand scale is catholicism. and they are not Christian by definition. i dont remember any protestants killing in the name of God

True Biblical Christians don' t kill to convert, It is actually the direst opposite, we plead for the unsaved to recieve the gift of eternal life.
