What is it with businesses (especially hotels) these days they advertise some unchallenging role as manager of something and then when you go for the interview you find out their organisation hierarchy is completely different? Why do they waste the time of the applicants?

I mean the applicants come for the interview thinking it's something suitable for them!

Of course it is not good buisness ethics, in fact it isn't even good buisness. The company doesn't want to waste time interviewing applicants either. It is probably just a mistake.

I just walked out on a new job after six days for that very reason. They spent a week training me and then set me to do something else entirely. Well, I enjoyed the training. Maybe I could just earn a paycheck by moving from one idiot company's training program to another's. ;-)

It is salemanship, just like everywhere else. When you try to sell something, in this case a job, you try to make it look better than it is. I agree that if you go too far in that, it is unethical.
