I have approx 200 6" x 4" standard photos which I would like put onto a cd. I dont have the negatives and they were taken from a disposable camera. I have visited Tesco, Jessops, Photo Factory etc and they have said I need to scan them in manually at their store. However, ths is really expensive and, obviously, very time consuming! Surely there must be an easier way? Thanks in advance, any advice is much appreciated.

Scanning pictures to get good results can be tricky to say the least. I woundn't opt for the cheapest scanner out there as you will only be disappointed by the results. Get a scanner that is dedicated to scanning pictures and then invest in a photo program for your computer to touch them up with.

Find a friend with either a decent digital camera or scanner. The camera will probably give you better results if you are careful to use natural light and no flash. Flash will just reflect back at the camera lens. Take the pictures outside, making sure they are flat, find some shade or take them during what we call cloudy bright. If the pictures are not perfectly flat, go to an art store and buy poster board that has sticky already on it. You can then just lay the picture on it for the photo and then easily remove it.

Scanning is the only way unless you can set them up and take digital pictures of the pictures which would degrade the quality and be a total waste of time, buy a cheap scanner and do it yourself.

You obviously have a computer so it's probably cheaper to buy yourself a scanner and do it yourself.

However, having scanned photos in myself, you do lose some quality (they end up darker than the original).

Good luck

There's no other way except to scan the photos. You could save time however if the scanner has an automatic sheet feeder such as this:

this is just an example, but I think Epson has other less expensive scanners that you can add a business card/photo feeder:

Hi, I recommand you to try google picasa.

picasa is a Google's photo software. It's what should've come with your camera.

It can Edit , organise and Share you picture and small video flips.

It's very easy to use and is free, just like Google

Download it free in here:
