What else can we legislate, but morality?

But legislatures protect society from "immoral behavior" don't they? Do you want to live in a lawless society?

Sometimes people view morality very differently and just can't agree on what it is. A lot of that has to do with your walk with God.

In European areas right now they are trying to make a legitimate political party that is made up of pedophiles. They are wanting to drop the legal age limit of sex to be with anyone of 12 years of age or higher. They think this is moral. They have people that agree with them.

In my book this isn't moral. So morals is something that is viewed differently by society, by religions and even by people in the same households.

If we accept that "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" are for all Americans, than what we do is make sure that as many people as possible get to keep these things. Consensual sex doesn't stop anybody from it, but sexual assault does. Drinking whiskey in your home won't stop anybody, but driving drunk and killing a person will. Sure you have to come from some kind of moral base. But you can make it very flexible, and allow people to adapt freely.

You have no right to legislate only your morality. Say gay marriage for one. I think anyone who wants to should be allowed to enter into the legal contract called marriage. Civil or religious, also. I do not want anyone else to worry about my morals, I can do that for myself.

Because if people want to sin they will.

We should legislate life and death, and basic public decency, and anything that infringes on the rights of others.

For the rest, we should all follow our own God.

Peace!

Not everyone can agree on what is "moral." To some people, gay people getting married is not moral, while to me, preventing two people who love each other from getting married, no matter their genders, is not moral. Who is right?

Two reasons.
1.) it has never worked.
2.) All who try are immoral, amoral or evil.
