I bought an expensive camouflag like suite and the general color code in the room is black and silver. the entertainment center, fan and the tv is black and silver. My dilema is what else should i put in a small space to compliment the room.

I would strongly suggest a secondary accent color to 'relieve' the black and silver......a vibrant shade of blue in the form of pillows for the sofa or a vase or artwork or candles (or all of the preceeding) would help the room 'pop'. Of course, with the abundance of black and silver most any accent color (in complementary shades) would work. If it is a truly small space, however, I would limit the accent colors to one or two. Sometimes small spaces work best when treated with a limited color palatte.

Diva, I am currently a interior design student..i would love to help you...you should stick with a general color scheme and oonly use colors that you already have...take colors from other items to place in your room as far as ornaments go...I would again stick with a theme...personalize things such as pictures an what not..your room i assume has green olive green black silver and maybe a tan color? well to compliment the room depending on what color your wall is an if you have windows you could get curtins to accent your walls an i would go with solid color curtains also you said your enter. center was of black an silver you dont wanna focus to much on that because that is not the focal point of your room your suite is so you want things that will work well with them and that would include getting things that either can be related to the print or pulling colors from the suite and using them in your room...if you would like to talk more you can send me an instant message at rav3n_0f_darkn3ss

I'd paint one wall lavender. apparently this color is making a big comeback as well as a light blue/green. Either color will work with black and silver by accenting them.Paint is an inexpensive way to redecorate.Pillows in these two colors will soften the harshness of the black . A shag area rug( say in front of the couch and under the coffee table) in a light neutral color with color blocked accents such as chocolate, gray, sage green will also soften the room.

What's your favorite color (besides black and silver)? I'd use that to put an accent (and some personality) in your livingroom.
One of the most effective set designs I ever saw was years ago by Edward Gorey for the Broadway production of Dracula, starring Frank Langella. Each set was in black and white with a single red accent -- a red rose in the drawing room, red liquid in a decanter in the dining room...that sort of thing. It really worked!

Interesting light sources like lamps and sconces to me are extremely important, both for setting the mood as well as good light for reading without the glare of overhead lights.

Also, at least one great-looking plant. If you have camouflage, black, and silver, I wouldn't try to add too much more in terms of color, except for a large vase with cut flowers that you can change out according to your mood. The vase itself could be glass or crystal with facets that catch the light. Choose one that works with your other appointments.

Remember, less is more. You don't want to overpower your things with clutter so that they don't stand out. It takes more confidence to decorate sparingly. The Asian custom is to have one beautiful object in a room. I admire that philosophy and custom.

I would hang a silver framed mirror over the couch. It will make the space seem larger and still go with everything. I would also add another color in a warm tone like brick red pillows or something just so everything isn't too cold.
