I have no problem with Medicaid paying for abortions.
Those people on Medicaid can't afford to help themselves, let alone breed.
I also think that if people who are on Medicaid, and continue breeding - should be cut off of Medicaid after so many children.
Looking at dollars only, the state and taxpayers would save millions offering abortions to people that don't want and can't provide for their children.

You might do better posting this to the Polls and Surveys category.
What I think is important for you to understand is that the two primary sides of this on-going debate are not diametrically opposed. It's not for abortion or against it. It's that one side is against abortion, and the other is in favor of a woman's right to choose what she does with her body. One side believes the baby developing in the womb from the point of conception is a human life with rights equal to any other human, the other does not believe that (so there is a diametrically opposed portion of the argument). The reason this will forever be an argument is that one argument is based primarily on a religious belief (life begins at conception and that life has the same rights), and the other argument is based on the scientific reasoning that before a baby is viable outside of the womb, it is not deserving of the same rights -- it is still part of the mother.
I am not for abortion. I am for the right of a woman to have control of her own body.

i feel that abortion is a personal choice. it has been abused by women and young girls using it as a form of birth control. i had an abortion. it was emotionally painful and took many years to recover from. to this day, i still think about it. girls in todays society look at it as an easy out without fully understanding the emotional ramifications that come with it. when used as birth control, i am against it. when used because of medical defect, rape, or incest, i am for it. i also don't agree with the government trying to rear its ugly head in the matter. it is an individual choice that should not be ruled by political leaders. everyone, not just women, should keep abortion legal. medicaid insurances should still pay for it. if they pay for people to have gastric bypass to never lose the weight and not stick to a regimen, then yes, medicaid should still cover abortion. are we going to revert back to the dayw when women died in back alleys because of abortions gone wrong? abortion is expensive and even more expensive is the life that would be raised on that same insurance. we need to think of the minimal costs associated with abortion and compare them to the costs of health care for an unwanted chilld. 18 years of doctors and probably even more for the psychiatric treatments that that child would have to have because of neglect.

Definitely out. Abortion is murder, nonetheless. People have different reasons for having it but you should have thought about that before you had sex. As for raping abortions, I see why you might want to, but still have it. It's a human being. You're killing it when you get one. And they're so expensive, too. Also, if you don't want it or can't afford it, put it up for adoption or with a friend or family. Once you have it, you'll feel very different.

i don't think abortion should be legal. a fetus is a completely different organism from it's mother, with a separate potential for life. the blood running through its veins is different from that of its mother (its separated by the placenta) it has its own heart, brain and eveything. Yes, it is a woman's right to choose, to choose whether to have a baby, but as soon as that baby is alive, then it has rights of it's own. Even though it is inside of the mother it is different, and has it's own life. Philosophically, morally, and scientifically, it is not part of the mothers body. Different DNA, different soul, different life. So it's dad was a rapist, well should a baby pay for that?
btw, a baby is not viable for years after birth, so what does that mean? it's still part of the mothers body?

I would like it to be available to everyone and noone decide to use it. As for medicaid paying for the abortion, if a person qualifies for medicaid for an abortion, they also qualify for medicaid and several other programs that will provide for a child they don't abort. Hopefully more people would choose the latter.

I am Pro-Choice. I believe that a woman should have the right to have an abortion if she needs one----not to be a method of birth control. In cases of rape, child molestation, incest, severe birth defects that could cause the mother to die as well as the baby......yes, a woman should have that right.
