Lazy Jane Stew. Mmmmmm. I've loved this since I was a kid and my Grandmother won a cooking contest one time with this recipe.
1 lb. beef chuck cut into two inch squares or you can use stew meat
1 can beef consume
1/2 cup burgundy
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup flour
Put the meat and bread crumbs into a casserole dish. Pour the can of consume over the meat and bread crumbs. Add the salt and pepper. Combine the burgundy and the flour making a thin paste with no lumps. Pour the rue into the casserole dish over the other ingredients--DO NOT STIR!
Cover tightly and bake in the oven for 3 hrs at 350 degrees. I usually use tin foil and the lid to the casserole dish.
The best thing to do with this stew is to make up some mashed potatos and pour the stew over the potatos. It's filling so you may only want to include some dinner rolls on the side to swab up the stew juice on your plate.
MMMMMMM- now I'm hungry for this stew and I have to eat meatloaf tonight.... :( lol
Enjoy, have a great day and Bon Appetite!
P.S. I'm at work right now and my mom thought I was crazy when I called her to get this recipe. I didn't want to get it wrong because it's sooo good! The Burgundy makes it taste 'high brow' and it's really good on cold days. I love to smell it cooking!!!

Sweet Potatoes
Candied Sweet Potatoes
6 large sweet potatoes
1/2 cup butter
2 cups white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
salt to taste
Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into slices.
Melt the butter or margarine in a heavy skillet and add the sliced sweet potatoes.
Mix the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Cover the sweet potatoes with sugar mixture and stir. Cover skillet, reduce heat to low and cook for about 1 hour or until potatoes are "candied". They should be tender but a little hard around the edges. Also the sauce will turn dark. You will need to stir occasionally during the cooking. Stir in the vanilla just before serving. Serve hot.

i like the chicken-n-noodle soup my mom makes..tell u how to make it:
kepp cooked chicken aside. it may even be completely cooked chicken with gravy and stuff, that just adds to the taste. take a pack of 2-minute noodles and boil it in water with small, diced vegetables of ur choice. when thats done, drain the water. add the chicken, put salt as u require and the spice mix that comes along with the noodles. cook that a lil while. wen u satisfied that the noodles are well cooked, take it off the stove and eat directlty outta the bowl. believe me ull get hooked to this its so delicious. we put many different spices since were indian but ive substituted for them.
uve asked a question that demands more than a million replies...!!!
all the best :)

I'm a bachelor, so I don't cook. I have a freezer full of TV dinners, pizza, etc. But I love fried chicken, with mashed potatoes and gravy. Maybe you can make some for me, sometime.
