I have muted yellow walls, not pale or pastel at all, and oak floors. Right now we have a large rug in the room withBurgandy, tans, black, and greens. I may loose the rug if necessary, or replace it with something solid. Any recommendations will be helpful.

Sectional sofas and young kids = disaster. This is not answer to your question but a warning from someone who knows. Keeping the sections together with wiggling, jumping kids is impossible.

Plastic and leather tear very easily. Fabric such as a very good grade of velvet will be your most long-wearing covering. Good luck! And really, think about waiting until your youngest is about 14 before buying that sectional sofa. We are sorry that we didn't know better.

We replaced with an extra long sofa and two matching love seats. Ideal!!!

Dont get that micro fiber!! I have an upholstery couch. It has stood up to the abuse my son and husband gave it. I do have to shampoo it every few months. My son is messy, as well as my husband. You might want to go with leather if you want easy clean up.... Personally I think upholstery is more comfortable. As for getting a sectional sofa... make sure your kids dont jump on it... I had one, and my son jumped on it just about every day, and he made it loose, and broke one of the legs...

My son also has 3 boys under 10. When he bought a new couch he got a leather one and they offered insurance for it, which they did purchase and 1-2 yrs. later it got a hole in it. The company replaced it at no charge, so it was well worth it. Maybe a whisky brown would be a good color.

We purchased a leather sofa just over a year ago. I never wanted one because I thought that it would be ruined easily. I am really surprised at how great it has been performing. I don't think my fears were totally founded.

If you can get a quality leather sofa, and you like the look, buy it.

I love my leather furniture. It's fairly hearty leather, not that uber-soft stuff, and it's perfect for us. We have a large dog, so we wanted something that pet hair wouldn't stick to. Spills wipe up easily, etc. You could always go with "pleather" too (the fake stuff). Looks and feels much like leather, is cheaper and easier to clean.

I've heard that microsuede/ultrasuede is a good choice as it is extremely durable and cleans easily. Also comes in just about any color imaginable, so you're bound to find something that fits with the rest of the room easily.

I have a 2 year old and a 7 month old....my vote is a leather couch! That's we have decided on after watching our toddler destroy everything in sight. good luck.
