Bupropion Hydrochloride, (Welburtin), is a drug that is generally not prescribed for the treatment of severe or major depression until after all other drugs have been tried, because of the extreme high risk for seizures while taking it.

Most common side effects, dry mouth, dizziness, rapid heart-beat, headaches (including migraines), excessive sweating, nausea, vomiting, constipation, loss of appetite, weight changes, sedation, agitation, sleeplessness and tremors.

You say that you have "stomach cramps, this is very rare and not common. (Not saying that you don't have "stomach cramps"

All of the less common side effects have not been linked to this drug and is not well established. (Only 1 in 10 people who take this drug have to stop it because of intolerable side effects).

You state that you are a "cutter", this means that you are seeking attention and not getting the attention that you need. You may even be suicidal for all I know as you are not my patient.

It is not ethical for me as a Clinical Psychiatrist to prescribe drugs for you over the internet, plus you are not my patient.

Your Psychitrist is the very doctor that I have always had major conflict with an many of my other peers in the field of psychiatry.

When a patient comes to see me and tell me they are depressed I perform a complete medical examination to R/O, (rule out), any medical problems.

Then I ask them a serious of 21 questions that I designed to get at the root cause of their depression. Once they have answered most all off of the question, I make an appointment for them to return to hear my DX., and see if they concur. If they are not "SMI", (Serious Mental Illness), we will work together to resolve the root cause of their depression without medications. As medications only mask the root cause of your problem. (You leave my office feeling good and your root cause is still inside of you).

Now if you are DX, with SMI, then I will put you in a mental hospital for a period of 72 hours for evaluation. You can go calm or via force. Either way you will not leave my office to harm yourself or others. If you need a longer period of time for evaluation and stablization of the drugs prescribed for you then I will ask the court to extend your stay.

Find yourself a clinical psychiatrist, who really cares about you in mind, body and soul. One who will give you an open ear and try to resolve your problems with therapy an alternative solutions.

You don't want the psychiatrist that ten minutes after you sit down in his/her office they pull out the Rx. pad and write you a prescription. (This is their way of making money as you will become addictive an ofcourse will always have to return from another Rx).

If your age make you an adult where you live, I would suggest that you sign yourself into an hospital that as a mental unit. Also before you sign yourself in, make sure that you have what is known as a "Mental Advocate", you want some one to represent you. Or one of your parents co-sign with you, so that you are assured that you will be released after the 72 hour evaluation.

This is the best advise I can offer you as I would be breaking the law if I prescribe drugs for your depression over the internet. (Plus in my professional opinion I think that you have other serous mental problams that need to be addressed.

God bless you and I wish you all the best. (Just do the right thing and please don't take your life as life is worth living). If you need/require the right combinations of drugs without any major side effects stay on them for life.

This is the only way you will live a quality life.

It takes approximately six weeks for any antidepressants to begin to work. I don't know how long you have been on but it is best to continue to take the wellbutrin until you see you doctor. Don't despair there are many different medications available. Remeron and effexor xr work well with depression and anxiety. Your doctor will evaluate the effectiveness and change them if necessary. In the meantime continue with counseling and remember you are not alone many people suffer with depression and have found a means through mood stabilizers to have a happy productive life. I undertand the kind of hell you must be in now but trust me there is a light at the end of the tunnel. God bless.

Wellbutrin is okay, I was on effexor before and I hated it...made me feel sick and dizzy. I am on Wellbutrin for PTSD and to supplement my meds for ADD. I haven't had a problem with Wellbutrin, although my friend's father had some seizures from it.

Not too sure about the cramps, you should really consult your doctor. Wellbutrin helped my quit smoking cigarettes and I have been quit for three years.

Ok I think you may also have severe anxiety. PLease see a different doctor. YOu might want to ask about paxil, xanax or ativan to counter the cutting behavior. I think your dr. will still keep you on the welbutrin for the depression that might keep triggering the anxiety attacks.
