He only likes to talk about things that have to do with sex or sports. Why can't he talk about more serious issues? Is this a guy thing?

No, it's not a guy thing- it's a maturity thing. He lacks it. Either that or he's not very bright and doesn't know anything other than sex and sports so has nothing to say.
Not a very attractive quality if you ask me.

Well it depends on how old he is most guys can't have a mature conversation until they reach the age of 40 and then it's questionable.

He is not as mentally developed as you. If this is a major issue with you then you have to address it. Some people grow as a couple and some remain the same. Its up to you to decide if he is ever going to progress to the next level.

Two questions: How old is he? If he's under 25 this is sort of normal
Second: How committed are you to this guy and WHY? You need to consider that if this is "the way he is" and isn't likely to change - will you be happy?

MAYBE HIS FAMILY DOESN'T TALK ABOUT EVERY DAY THINGS. YOU CAN TRY TO TALK ABOUT OTHER THINGS. HE'S PROBABLY JUST MORE AT EASE TALKING ABOUT SPORTS AND HE THINKS SEX TALK IS THE THING TO DO. IT'S NOT.
