I've never lived in VA, so FL gets my vote. I live in the northeast. A lot of people talk about the hurricanes. I live about 15 miles from the beach. It would have to be a category 5 to be a big deal this far inland. The last time that happened was 1964.

The weather is great with no snow. Population is steadily growing. Crime is growing with it. As our city makes improvements in housing, etc. and the lower income neighborhoods are increasingly becoming middle-class neighborhoods, crime is increasing in the suburbs it seems. Construction and road improvements are never ending.

No state income tax. I think overall the schools are pretty good or better. Wages probably aren't what you would find in the NE, but then, neither is the cost of living. The economy is growing with the ever-increasing population.

Housing prices are starting to become outrageous, although there are still many rural places outside of the city where it is still possible to buy property and homes without paying so much as in the city or the suburbs.

I think it is a pretty decent place to raise children.

I hope the info helps.

I live in Virginia but grew up in Florida up until about 5 years ago. Florida is no doubt awesome and I love it but I do not recommend it unless you have a great income and a job there already. Yes you pay no state taxes but insurance company's are eating everyone alive with the price of homeowners insurance. Rent is also ridiculous. I guess it does depend on where in Florida you live too. My family still lives there and they all feel like middle class people are being pushed out of the state because they can't afford the taxes on their homes. My parents are paying $4,000 a year for their taxes on their house. It's crazy! Any way, I don't like Virginia but I think depending where you go here it's more affordable than Florida. Good luck!!!

Virginia is tremendous. i like that i'm close to an outstanding city with extremely some way of life, and only an hour experience from the mountains and an hour experience from the sea coast. the exterior proper right here close to DC is captivating besides, and there is tremendous fishing in case you circumvent the Potomac. Northern Virginia is amazingly diverse, as are Norfolk, Hampton Roads, and Richmond. i will't vouch for different cities or rural elements of Virginia, and that i have only vacationed in Florida. (in the adventure that your immigration status isn't legal, circumvent Prince William county. extremely some legal hispanics stay there in spite of the indisputable fact that.)

I live in Florida now, and spent my last year of high school here .. My husband of 12 years was born and raised in the same county we live in now .. so I'd have to vote for Virginia. Florida sucks .. schools are terrible, weather is always hot and humid, people are unfriendly and driving - OMG take your lives into your own hands. If it weren't for our jobs and family, we would have moved a long time ago ..

I've lived in Maryland (which is close to Virginia) and I've lived in Florida. I prefer Florida for the weather and things to do. However, the payscales and schools are better in the northeast. You have to decide which would be better financially, as well as the school districts involved, etc. But just think of living without the snow and ice. :)

If you are going to live in virginia I would not live in Northern VA or near VA Beach. They are too big and are full of crime. However I like VA much better than FL for the seasons, and snow.

I did like florida for the beach.

But jobs in FL do not pay as well and there are less of them.

Truthfully, you should move to Florida because it NEVER snows. I live in Pennsylvania, and it snows HARD. Sometimes, I wish that we moved to Florida. You should also move to Florida because it is a vacation spot that almost everyone goes to. It also has Disney World! You should search FLORIDA on google and see what comes up.

I don't live in the US but I would say Virginia....less chance of having the expense and stress of dealing directly with a hurricane

I love florida but since you have kids it might not be the best choice. Recently crime has become out of control (not just in the cities) and the schools suck.
