DON'T DO IT!!!! It may look cute and sound like a good idea now, but chances are that you will regret it big time in years to come.

Please...for the love of God...don't do it.

If you need to ask this question, you are not ready. Really really think about the design you want, make it something special, personal & unique (discuss it with the artist first), think about where you want it on your body, do you want it on show all the time, do want to be able to hide it, or do you want it where only a select few will ever see it. Research the tattooist, look at their previous work, get feed back from previous customers, & if possible try to see the artist at work.

And yes it is painful, but not unbearable, more uncomfortable, some people find the sensation quite a turn on.

There are a couple of guys near me who now have the most hideous blue faces because of all that `tribal` stuff in the 90`s.
There are a couple who work with me who are doing every hour of work that God sends just to earn enough to have his removed.
I am not totally against, but remember, it doesn`t look so good after 10 years or so and on saggy old skin, it looks revolting.

I have seen many young ladies with tatoos and it is very off-putting to see such disfigurement. It maybe OK when you are young, but that don`t last so long does it ?

you are the only person who can make the decision to have a tattoo but remember once you've taken the plunge to get one make sure you're sure about where and what you want because once you've made the decision and had the tattoo its to late.

What pic you like today you might not like next year or so. as you grow older your taste changes too and your skin tone etc. A nice cute little kitten when your slim becomes a full grown cat if you gain a few ponds.

You don't mention how old you are. Sorry if that sounds patronising but I wanted a tattoo since I was 16. Was too scared to have any until I was 25 and was very glad I waited. The tattoo I wanted at 16 is not what I would want now!!!

Do you know whether you'll regret it or not in 20 years time? If you're curious why not get a henna tattoo and see how that goes? By the way, if you do choose to go for a tattoo try to avoid the green ink - I've been told it's the most difficult, and painful, colour to get rid of, if you change your mind later on.

I would say, if you really, really, really want to get it because it will look cool, don't. You have to be absolutely sure that the design you have is one that will be meaningful to you after ten years, twenty years and so on.

As for the 'girls with tattoos are common' guy. Really? Where do you get this tired assumption from, do you have a list of clichés that you run out rather than answering a question properly?

If you're unsure, don't go through with it. It's not something that you can take back later if you've changed your mind. Tattoos are the ultimate form of personal expression. Don't take them lightly.

what you have to remember is that you'll have it for the rest of your life unless you can aford to get it removed. If you really want it then make sure its something you will like forever. Mine are both on my shoulders so i can cover them up if i need too.
