Is it necessary for me to purchase an upgrade or do I simply update my existing package?

It would be really nice if I said you could upgrade MS Word 2000 for the new version 2003.

Bill Gates is the richest man in the world and still that is not enough money for him You have to purchase the new version.

If it was a simple component to the MS Word 2000, the upgrade or critical update is free.

Any complete new version you have to pay. (This normal practice with any software company). You can free upgrades only if it is a fix or slight improvement. Any complete new version of any software they will charge you.

If you have a previsous version of MS Word you can purchase the upgrade version of MS Word or MS Office 2003 much cheaper than purchasing the full version. Here are some links to the upgrade software:

M$ loves to "stick it to you" by making you purchase new software. Best bet... find a friend that has a copy of it and see if they'll let you use it. Cuts cost for you and you can load that program on upto (I think) 5 computers before Microsoft starts questioning things.

you have to buy the new version. Is there any reason why you want to upgrade, i don't think there is much of a difference between the two.
