a home remedy for insect bites and stings is one crushed aspirin.little baking soda, and a drop of vinegar. I know vinegar and baking soda react only use a little bit. The aspirin helps with the pain the baking soda draws out the poison and the vinegar neutralizes the sting. If you have meat tenderizer you can add a little of that too it helps to penetrate deeper in to the area. I've used this many times for stings(bees and wasp) and for spider bites. good luck hope your Friend feels better.

An anti-itch first aid cream made for insect bites AND stings. Or sometimes wet tobacco helps (if you're a smoker) My mom did it to my arm one time when I was stung by a bee. I think ice and baking powder help too.
