he's getting older now, so I would think he would appreciate some good memories! Sit down and using pictures and things, make him a scapebook of just the two of you or him and all of his children. Little things that maybe he has forgotten about....fishing trips, driving lessons, backyard baseball, swimming at the creek, first talks about girls....I bet that would take both of you way back!!! Plus, no one else would get him the same as you....special!! Or you could just go buy him a leather recliner and call it a day!!!

This is a toughie. Where are you? That could help decide things. The best I can give you right now, is spend some time with him. Do something he likes. Ever been to a dog show? Look up on the AKC website for a show near you. The shows are more interesting than you would think. How about making a difference and the two of you go work in a shelter or soup kitchen? Are you near the ocean? How about a Harbor cruise? See what's offered in your state, city or community. Maybe a boys weekend. Are you near Las Vegas or Atlantic city? My father in law loved when he and his boys went away for a "River Trip" weekend. One of the best things they ever did.

Give him a card that says you'll take him out somewhere, like out to lunch or spend the day at the park or somewhere with him. By the time people turn 60, they usually have pretty much all the stuff they want because they can just go out and buy it themselves. Spending time with him will probably mean more than buying him something anyway. And make sure you bring a camera because then you can take pictures of your day together and pick the best one and buy him a picture frame and put the picture in it later.

Pay a bill for him. One less thing for him to stress over. Then treat him to dinner or take him to a meat matket and go grill something together. Don't guys like to grill? Do something fun like bowling where you both can have some laughs and a beer.

Get a picture of you and your dad from when you were little, blow it up, and surprise him with it, when they get about that age they start getting sentimental
