Yes you would need to buy Word, but if you aren't bothered about having an up to date version and don't really want Excel and PowerPoint then go on to Ebay or Amazon and buy a later version of Microsoft Works.

This includes Word and a cheaper version of excel plus a piece of publishing software. You should be able to get it fairly cheap.

Or if you are a student or have a child in your home you will be able to get a copy of Microsoft Office 2003 (Students License) for about £95.

If you want Word, or need spell check then yes. Otherwise, just use wordpad.

Download OpenOffice (OpenOffice.org). It'll take you a while to download the entire thing (a full CD) so if you only want a word processor just download "writer".

OpenOffice is an Open Source program that is FREE. FREE. Did you get that, FREE?

And, it's good enough that some companies are trying to replace MS Office with it.

Yes.
But not to worry, a bit back a company "stole" all of MS Office code and built their own Office programs free to the public.

You could go in www.limewire.com download the free version one. When it's installed you go in it and press search programs, write Microsoft Word and press search, then you choose one and press on it two times and wait till it's downloaded.

More then likely. it would be best to get Microsoft Office, because you also get PowerPoint, Excel, etc. and the software lasts for a while.

Hope it all works out!
