1. The dentist will numb the gums with topical anesthetic
2. He will give you a needle full of anesthetic to put the tooth "asleep".
3. He will put a clamp on your tooth and put a rubber dam over your mouth so that just the tooth that needs fixing is showing and you don't get crap in the back of your mouth.
4. He will then drill out the cavity while the assistant sprays water and suctions up the crap.
5. He might put a band around your tooth if the cavity has taken away part of the edge of the tooth.
6. He will put some gel in your tooth to make sure the cavity filling will bond. He will then start to fill the tooth up. If it is a white filling, it will need ultraviolet light on it to harden the filling.
7. If it is a silver filling he will just pack it in.
8. He will take the dam and clamp off the tooth and check the height.
9. He will make adjustments so your bite will be good.
20. Then you can go home.

Remind me not to come to your office. I don't trust a dentist that asks for directions while working.
