him being submissive or him wanting his belly rubbed? He does it throughout the day, but not always. He doesn't look scared, but he does do it automatically when he first sees me... He is definitely not a dominant dog either.

Your pup is simply behaving in the proper way. You are his leader (for now) and he is being submissive to you. Submission is not out of fear, rather out of respect. Many dogs like their bellies rubbed while they're in the position, but rarely will a dominant dog allow him/her-self to be put in such a submissive position.

He just wants his belly rubbed. Every time someone comes home or says my dogs name if he's laying down he stretches his front arms out, rolls over a little and starts wagging his tail. Of course the spoiled dog he is, everyone complies and he gets his his belly rubbed :)

Its submissiveness but it is also showing you a complete sign of trust. When a dog rolls over like that it is also exposing it's most vulnerable areas (it's throat and belly ).

It's both. Just because a dog is submitting to you doesn't mean he is scared. The way he sees it is that he is lower in the pack ranking than you, so it's his job to show his belly. You're his alpha, and you're a good dog mom, so it's your job to rub his belly.

It's actually both. Primarily he is being submissive. However, getting a belly rub sure feels good....

Being submissive. My dog pees when he sees me. It is just part of being a dog. If you do not like the behavior you can try to clicker train him to stop, but it will be very hard since this is a submissive trait.

First, it is submissive behavior. Second, he gets a tummy rub for his trouble.. a plus for him. You are the Alpha Girl and he is your plaything, a roll he obviously likes. Just enjoy the love...
