The Air Force and Navy have the best technical training, the Air Force has the best quality of life, but the Navy is definitely the way to go if you want to travel a lot and love boats. There can be a lot of travel involved in the air force, but you can also stay at one location for a longer period.
The only thing the Marines really has to offer is the superior physical/discipline training.

This is a common problem here on answers! First what do you like to do? How much do you like to be challenged? What type of MOS (job) do you want? Marine boot camp is longer than the other branches of service, 13 weeks. I believe you are more physically and mentally challenged while there. Once you get done with boot camp, living conditions for the Marines are not as nice as the other branches. Think of it like the Marines are the youngest child and get the hand-me-downs! Air Force is said to have the best conditions. Think spoiled rich kid. I suggest you speak with a recruiter from each branch of service and see what they have to offer. Each branch gets the same base pay, and same benefits. An E-1 in the Marines gets paid the same amount as an E-1 in the airforce. The pay difference happen when you live off base. BAH (basic allowance for housing) varies depending on where you live, one place may get $500 a month while some other base may get $1300 a month it depends on the cost of living for that area. Depending on time of enlistment/job need you may be able to get a bonus in one branch (bonuses are not guaranteed, and can vary greatly). Good luck in your decision making. L

I'm not American, so forgive my intrusion.... but I was in my own country's air force (British) and can speak from direct experience.
As some people have already said, the air force and the navy are very technical branches. If you have an eye on your future then you should take this into account. I certainly did, and the excellent training and experience I received (in what is now known as 'avionics') led to an excellent career in civilian life.
[Of course, like others on this page, I am assuming that you would be willing to consider a technical branch rather than a 'fighting' one.]
Anyway, whichever service you decide to join, I hope you have a successful and fulfilling life in uniform.

The Air Force is better if you don't want to get shot at and stuff like that. If you are looking to be in combat though, chances are you won't see any in the Air Force. You will have a much better way of life in the Air Force seeing as they treat their people better.

For training in jobs that will help you on the outside, you can't go wrong with the Air Force or Navy. I knew a retired Navy Chief who put it this way. If you want to learn something, go in the Air Force, if you want to have fun, join the Navy.

My dad loved the Air force but my uncle loved the Navy. How about the Navy but as an air carrier?

If I were you, I would join the U.S.Army. Why? well, you have to have a real good eduacation to join the Air-Force. You have to take a hard test for the Marines. And they have so hard of a training program that it takes only a small portion to compleet. You really have to be tough to take what they dish out.Like they say, Only a Few Good Men.

The Marines is combat based. The Navy and Air Force are technical based. You have to choose where you feel your strength lies. It's your life and your career so you do what you want to do. Nay sayers are not the ones who will have to live with what THEY choose for you. YOU DECIDE!!! MARINES----HOOHAAA! You'll learn about that when you get into boot camp!

Marines are the best. They are the toughest and roughest. Unless you are going for the money then choose one of them other branches, cause the Marines are for the cause⥠As for what Derek said some people enjoy being free and know freedom isn't free, they just want all the benefits and not do any of the work. Good job on your decision to help our country. If you couldn't tell I'm kinda biasâ¥
