Can you do it in fewer than 40 lines?

Trouthunter, you gave me an interesting answer. I didn't know Dawkins labels himself an "atheist." In my opinion, atheists probably do not exist; this is a matter that might take me a while to explain.

The fact that he labels himself an "atheist" reveals to me a weakness he probably possesses. He makes many articulate arguments, and we readers tend to rely on his authority to varying degrees. But when he states that he adheres mindlessly to a rigidly fixed conclusion, I do question his authority.

He even went so far as to attend a conference whose focus was simply his *conclusion* of atheism. This tells me that his *religion* of atheism is of considerable importance to him. I think the book you recommend is, of course, well worth reading, however. I'd like, in particular, to reread East of Eden in light of The God Delusion.

In less than 40 lines... I do not think so... All anyone of The True Christian Faith can really do is offer the testimony of what God has done for us. An offer help in study and of couse fellowship. That is why ,usualy, the first thing I offer on this forum is the link to my testimony... I can not "prove" any thing to any one... nore can any other of The Faith... it is close to imposable to convey the Good News of The Salvation Message through any indirect communication such as this. I would definatly be God's work if The Message did get through in YA.

The relationship between God and His people is one-on-one and personal...how he worked and is working with me is not the way He will work with another... But each of us of The Faith is willing to stand by a true seeker while they work out their own relationship with God... not easy over the internet... but we can try.. and trust God to lead.

For my testimony, it is not that long, you may read at:

All honest seekers welcome

Swedenborg speaks of universal principles of religion from a Christian standpoint but the term "Universalist" has come to refer to a set of beliefs that are distinctly not part of Swedenborg's doctrine/theology. Some of the universals of religion are as follows:

"That God is one, and that there is a conjunction of charity and faith" (Soul and Body n. 20).

Also, "This only One and very Self is omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent. This also every Christian acknowledges from his doctrine and every gentile from his religion. In consequence, wherever he is, a man thinks that God is there and that he prays to God at hand; thinking and praying so, men cannot but think that God is everywhere, that is, omnipresent [in all places at all times]; likewise omniscient [all knowing] and omnipotent [all powerful]. Everyone praying to God, therefore, implores Him from the heart to lead him because He can lead him; thus he acknowledges the divine omnipresence, omniscience and omnipotence, doing so in turning his face to the Lord; thereupon the truth flows in from the Lord" (Divine Providence n. 157).

Also, "There are three essentials of the church: acknowledgment of the divine of the Lord, acknowledgment of the holiness of the Word [Bible], and the life which is called charity" (Divine Providence n. 259[3]).

Also, "Every man [or woman] can be saved, and those are saved who acknowledge God and live rightly" (Divine Providence n. 325).

I wouldn't try to talk anyone into anything because someone else could just talk them right back out of it.

God is real and if you want Him, He'll reveal Himself in such an undeniable way that no one could ever change your beliefs or talk you out of it.

It's not a pitch or a contest to see who get the most converts. It's what you believe, why you believe it and how you live it.

I have no "religion". But I would like to invite everyone to read "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. I've read the bible, or most of it, so I figure the least you open minded Christians could do is read this book. Its much shorter than the Bible, and a little more straightforward.

Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and live forever.
Believe in something else and die forever.

Trouthunt...We Christians have an open mind and we also read books of fiction, like the one you suggest.

People don't change religions over a "pitch". Big decisions like this take time. to convert them, you have to represent the best way you can, so they see you and know thats how they want to be, thats how they want to live. its entirely up to them.

To A Muslim I would ask...was Mohammad a great man? They would answer yes. Did Muhammad lie? They would say no. I would ask if Jesus was a good man? They would say yes. I would tell them Jesus said, "I am the truth." Do you want to accept him now?

Have you accepted Jesus in your heart yet? If no...Would you like to accept him now? Or yes...would you like to go out to dinner.

It really is simple.

There is only one thing in the universe that you can absolutely depend upon: Truth. Would you like to know the truth?
