I just took a couple tests -from an actual person who does that sort of thing professionally- and I averaged out at 140.

I'm not taking it too seriously, but I'd like to know what that means in the scheme of things...

AHA! Test results my mother was hiding from me. So...150. Weird.

Sounds contrived. I'm sad.

My sister just added the above added details. Ignore her please.

its means that you are of average intelligence.
You are at least as smart as most people.
But nothing to write home about.

my iq = 141

P.S. if you apply your self you may someday be as smart as me!

it was once set up so that 100 was average.. but in all honesty it's more like 90-115 is average.. 120-140 is considered above average.. and then i think 170ish plus is considered genius.. but i don't put much faith in IQ tests... although they are better than they used to be, and they have incorporated alternative IQ's a little.. they are still a visual field that require certain knowledge to even be able to use.. and for someone like me who is an auditory learner they aren't a true measure of ability... also, for some people the scores can jump around a bit.. depending on my mood and level of focus on any given day, my scores (from a professional) have jumped from a 125 to a 165... that's a 40 point jump... i don't see how you can consider a test valid when you can get varying results like that even though it's supposed to be "standardized".

It means you are smarter than about 90% of the population, but just a bit shy of true genius.
I don't know if I would be thrilled about this, It means you will have a life filled with frustration due to the apparent stupidity of most of those around you, while never really reaching the level of a brilliant mind. Whenever you start to feel arrogant and superior just remember that there are plenty of people out there who could make you feel like the idiot.

140 would put you in the top 2% of the population. Take it with a grain of salt though, I know a few "geniuses", but they have the common sense of a grape. Ideally, you would have an above average IQ coupled with good common sense.

Anything above 110 is impressive, but you need to know how to apply that intelligence to every day situations, if not, having the highest IQ won't benefit you.

The Stanford-Binet score doesn't really mean that much, but 140 is still impressive.
Sheesh! I'm jealous at only 135

for an actual evaluation of your i.q. seek the professionals but plan on it taking days.

140 is subgenius.

i had a 140 one time of day but that was when i cared. i'm sure it's dropped (though they say that's impossible? oh sure riiight) to my hat size.

I think an IQ of 100 is average. So I say that's pretty impressive.

140 to 150 is bordering on genius...at the very least very intelligent. USE IT!
Don't mess up in school & do your best, you can go very far. Don't mess that up.

140 is the low end of the genius level, be proud but don't flaunt it or you'll look like an azz
