that is a myth and is not true. You should drink when your thirsty. Period.

Drink at least 3 quarts or 3 liters a day. I drink 6 standard sized water bottles every day. The bottles hold 500 mL or 16.9 fl oz each. It seems like a lot but you get used to it. I carry a water bottle with me all day and refill it 5 times during the day.

6 glasses a day of 8oz which is a little more than half a cup. Just do what I do. Buy a big bottle of water, Fiji or Aquafina and fill it up two or three times a day. That should be sufficient enough.

A glass is 8 oz. Drinking all that fluid as water will do you no harm. The original research suggested that we had to have the intake of the equivalent of that amount each day—which could include the water in our cooked food and other liquids (probably not alcohol which dehydrates).

i think you have already got the volume right from all the other answers. i want to add that you should add more water if you exercise or sweat a lot. also, you need to drink all that water over the entire day instead of rushing through your daily quota to "get it done with ".
try 2 glasses early in the morning first thing you get out of bed. it is a little difficult to get used to but has immense benefits. and remember, the more the better, so there's no reason to have an upper limit at three litres!

A "glass" of water is 8 oz. (in this case). The rule used to be to drink 8, 8oz glasses per day (or 64 oz) but then that total amount was revised...

In our house we drink about 6 bottles of water a day. Mine are 16 ounces, that is two cups and my husbands are 20 ounce bottles.
A cup is 8 ounces, a pint is 16 ounces a quart is 32. I hope this helps.
I believe they are referring to 8 ounce glasses.

The average glass is 8oz. and if you drink water from a sport water bottle they say its more likely you will want to drink it than from a glass.

Drink 6 8oz glasses a day at minimum. Keep hydrated and healthy. The reason is that it helps flush out the body and keeps water bloat from settling in. It keeps your liver healthy and that in turn helps your body burn fat.
