No- God said very plainly- you can not see My face & live. Moses was hid in a cleft- on the moutain and saw the back of the Glory.

Ok, so I've read everyones answers, and no one has mentioned what I believe to be true.
While it's true that a person (like you and me) can see God face to face and live, they can be changed, or transfigured - temporarily, and through this transfiguration are able to see God face to face and live. When it talks about Moses face shining and how he changed physically, it's because he was still under the effects of being transfigured. Remember that it was on the mount of transfiguration that Jesus took Peter and others to meet with certain OT prophets. (I can't remember the chapter and verse but it's in the NT.) I don't know all the particulars about what is changed, or how, but there is ample evidence from both the OT and NT that this is possible and is what happened to Moses. Despite the fact that the Bible also says that no one can see the face of God and live, I believe Moses was transfigured.

11And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
Exodus 33:11 (Contemporary English Version)
9-11Then they would bow down because a thick cloud would come down in front of the tent, and the LORD would speak to Moses face to face, just like a friend. Afterwards, Moses would return to camp, but his young assistant Joshua [a] would stay at the tent.

Ex 33:9And it came to pass when Moses entered into the tent, the pillar of cloud descended, and stood at the entrance of the tent, and [Jehovah] talked with Moses.
10And all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance of the tent; and all the people rose and worshiped, every man at the entrance of his tent.
11And Jehovah spoke with Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. And he returned to the camp; but his attendant, Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, departed not from within the tent.
Moses didn't see the face of Jehovah, it was a voice out of the cloud.
The rest of Israel had to hear the words of Jehovah from Moses,
Ex 33: 21-33 is a different account.
You need to quit taking different accounts and trying to make them fit into one mold.
But I think you already know this.

Exodus 33:19 And the LORD said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20 But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live."
21 Then the LORD said, "There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. 22 When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen."
I guess not.

Yes, the text and the occasion are unique in the OT. As you may know, the Torah or first 5 books, are compiled from several sources, based on linquistic and stylistic analysis. This particular passage comes from a very, very early source.

Ah sky hopper I know this one well. He supposedly put his hand over moses and walked past. But he never actually saw him, unless you count the hand.
Sounds like bottles is bitter because he was rejected by Madonna or something.
