someone told me that In the early days of Christianity in Europe, before most people were Christians, people who were not Christian's were regularly put to death. i dont agree with that. do you ? to me it just doenst make sense. how could a religion like CHRISTIANITY allow such a thing to happen? to kill those who arent believers? the whole belief behind christianity concerning non-believers is to " witness " to them . pretty much to convert people to this religion. a preacher saying " you are wrong believe what i believe or you are going to burn " and that is wrong. what is your opinion?

Let me start by stating the truth, all religions, at some time or another has killed because of their belief, that they are the one true and only religion. So to believe that Christians were the only ones is to negate the fact that all have had their history, and some still being played out today.
Christians in the early years, during the Roman empire were persecuted as well.
But to dwell in the history and not the present is to never forget, and we must forget to move on.
To judge is unjust, to forgive is holy, so I chose to forgive adn move on than to judge and be stuck in history.
God bless always.

Yes, unfortunately this was true and it is still true today. False religion has and does exist even though they call themselves Christians. True Christians would not do such things, but just think about this. If you are an American and say we go to war with Mexico you will have catholic killing catholic and both of our governments and both catholic organizations blessing their troops in the name of the same God. And during a world war you have all religions killing people of their own faith in the name of God. My religion does not fight in any war; so you cannot ever say that a Jehovahs Witness killed your son, or your brother, or your husband, or a brother of the same faith serving the same God. As a metter of fact we don't fight in any war because we do not kill anyone, we do not want to see Satan rejoice, we reserve that for our heavenly father, Jehovah God.......KECK

Such killings, be they early Christianity or islamic jihads, are not faith but politically motivated.
Constantine, I believe, made the degree in Rome in order to unify the Roman Empire.
Charlemagne, offered the Germanic a similar option for the same reason.
Cortez in Mexico, Pilgrims in America - same.
Ask politics hiding w/o religion, not religion, for the answer.

If you read the old testament you wouldnt be surprised by this believe or be killed opinion. Christianity grew because of fear and a forced faith. Now Christians are more than willing to let you have an opinion and question things because that is how times have changed....you must change to survive....ironic huh?

Christians where killed, or feed to the lions by the Romans. Later the Christians burned "heretics" and "witches" at the stake. Oh then there where the crusades and the pogroms against the Jews...it goes on and on.

Acts 8:1 beginning:
And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.
And devote men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.

i know that now thousands of christians get killed for their faith every year and i know that true christians have mostly been percuted. i agree that to go round threatening people with death if they don't convert is wrong because people only get saved if they let jesus into their heart and believe in his death and resurection. if you threaten people many will claim to be christians when really they are not. it is far better to tell them the truth and pray. warning them about hell is not wrong it is the truth. the good news (God's gift of love Jesus) must always be told because it is the only way out and it is apsolutely amazing if you do accept Jesus!!!!!!!!

Christian history is rife with abuses, war and killing. Check out the witch hunts in the 1600 for one prime example. Consider...The emporer Constantine wanted to control the area of the world he had conquered. To do this, he created his own version of a religion (under the name of Christianity) and forced (by sword) all people to believe or die. He meshed together a lot of information from many sources...as he was a Pagan himself he included their ceremonies, though they have taken on other names at present.

It wasn't really as simple as "If you don't believe you are going to burn".
It was more of, what you don't believe in my God? You are the devil and pure evil, we have to KILL YOU before you can hurt anyone.
Here is an article about 'blood libel', the belief among Christians in the dark ages that Jew needed/wanted the blood of 'good/pure' Christians.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_libel_against_Jews
In my opinion it is no different than certain sects of Christianity today vilifying Harry Potter, and killing abortion doctors because thy are the works of the devil.
When people think something is 'evil' they usually try to destroy it.

read your history as to what the European " invaders " did to the 500 plus Nations who were already established here on Turtle Island
( the U.S. ). placing The People in slavery to do the Europeans biding and if they didn't they were brutally forced to do so. The People's free will and rights were disregarded by the Europeans even after these same People aided the Europeans in spite of their treachery.
