Newcastle Brown Ale is a wonderful drink and better than Guinness to my mind.
Shame the head office is now the wrong side of the river in Gateshead.
My wonderful Geordie friend introduced me to it 20 years ago and showed me a wonderful trick with a coin, that if you tap the bottom of the bottle about 5 times the drink explodes out of the bottle! What a good party trick!
Also learnt that Newcastle Broon should be drunk in a half pint glass, so that you keep the head, by keeping it topped up.
Went in a pub once in the country and the bar man gave it to me in a pint glass and we had to educate him, that it is served in a half pint glass.
There is a good story on the side of the bottle.

Well the pub I go usually has quite a few local ales on tap which I tend to stick too as well as the standard lager selection on tap (fosters, Carling, Stella etc). They do also sell Newcastle Brown which some of my friends drink from time to time. So yes, we do drink it here! As for the drinking habits of the nations I'm not too sure, continental lagers seem pretty popular, and most bars and pubs sell them as standard. IT tends just to be the more suburban/country pub that sells local beer/cider. Most of the city centre ones are all pretty mainstream!

No way - Newcastle has funky water taste .. like the water used to make the beer is tainted ..
some interesting Guinness Trivia most of you may know;
Guinness is the Lowest in Calories of all beer - even lower than Coors Lite ...
Guinness has Oyster Shells in it.
Guinness in Ireland is different (some say its better) as it is not
pasturized.
Guinness is also low in Alcohol Content compared to other beers
(even plain old Bud)

Yes, yes, yes... Newcastle brown ale is the BEST beer ever! I always keep a six pack in my icebox and only frequent bars that carry it! May I suggest drinking a few shots of Tuaca Liqueur and chasing them down with a Newcastle is wonderful, they compliment each other perfectly.

Absolutely, hands down, the best. Though Bass comes in a close second.

I tried it for the first time this week and hated it! Too much of a bitter, pilsner taste for me. I like Goose Island Brewery's Honker's Ale, Joe's Fat Tire Ale and Bass. To each his own though.
