No one gets threatened with hell for choosing to wear blue jeans instead of chinos, for eating Chinese food instead of French, or attending a Tom Hanks film instead of a Cameron Diaz movie. We go toward the sources of enrichment that fit with our own needs and that we find most personally relevant.

Why not take the same approach to religion, respecting each person's choice to pursue the source of spiritual strength that fits best for them?

I couldn't agree more.So many think their religion is it and you can't even talk to them sensibly. Personally I love to hear about other religions.I find them very interesting and some of their beliefs I can even go along with.I don't have to agree with everything but that doesn't give me the right to attack what they are saying is wrong.
One of the biggest problems of the world today is not respecting each other's faith or as you said "spiritual strength" I guess the only thing we can do is for everyone to pray in their own beliefs for us all to start reaching out to one another after all most faiths do teach "love"

I completely agree.I think most of it stems from greed.Church officials want to convert as many people as they can to fatten their own coffers, then the blind followers that are under them do the same thing, only it's because they really believe that's how it's supposed to be.And that's when it all goes to hell. The truly spiritual people don't care how others believe. The Amish aren't out there trying to bring people in.I'm not aware of any Pagan religions that seek converts.I've not really paid attention to much beyond that.I mean,as far as peaceful religions. And this country is supposed to be all about freedom of religion.People here can be pretty darn hateful when you're different...

religion is much more important than blue jeans or a movie. religion is how you live your life, what you choose to dedicate yourself to. it affects every aspect in your life, not just what food you will eat today. Your religion should be the most thought out decision of your life, because it determines whether you will go to Heaven or Hell. There is one Way, the right Way, and its up to you to choose it.

Pray to the God of the universe that created everything to show Himself to you. If you really want to know the truth and aren't just looking for a way to do what ever you want without consequences, He will revel Himself.

The Christian bible tells us that we must answer for our actions. It's science- cause and effect. For every action there is a reaction. There is no area in life where you can do what ever you want and not have to answer for it and you can't use the old line, "As long as it's not hurting anyone..." Because we are our brothers keeper and EVERY-thing we do affects the world in which we live.

thrilling question. the situation is, faith has had the monopoly on artwork for subsequently long because of the fact the non secular leaders have been those with the money. besides as that, they sought to regulate all media and varieties of expression, which includes paint, literature sculpture and so on. without faith we does no longer have some needless to say alluring artwork, yet think of what Michelangelo et al could have painted in the event that they might have chosen their own matters?

Because religion has always been a safe haven for those who wish to be hostile towards people different from themselves.
Unfortunately, it makes a bad name for those who use religion for peace and tolerance.
Peace, dude.

The primary reason is, Madison Avenue commercials notwithstanding, food, clothing, literature, film, and art do not deal w/ eternity, salvation from sin/guilt, and God.
