Ghandi was more peaceful than Jesus. Even if you only base that observation on the account that Jesus got a bit violent with the church rummage sale.

You are smart enough to already know the answer to this question. It is yes, no and maybe.
You have read enough of the "questions" on YA to know that some of them are not ask to get an opinion, they are asked as a means of stating an opinion, they are asked for shock value, they are asked just be "smart", and they are asked in a manner that is meant to be insulting and degrading. Unfortunately you get enough questions of those kinds and even the serious ones will begin to get suspected of being meant as a insult.
Plus you get the people who will turn any question into a opporunity to slam somebody. (And too often you seem to be one of the favorite victims).
Comparing non-violent resistence of Ghandi and Jesus can well be a serious question. The comparing Saddan Hussein to Jesus that appears three questions below yours probably is not.
So the answers is yes, no and maybe...

If someone lives in a small universe, the juxtaposition of two seemingly opposing concepts can feel like an attack. For instance, if you compare Jesus to Bill O' Reilly someone may accuse you of not being serious.
I think people assume that you are making a statement and/or arguing (instead of asking a question) when their minds just can't go there. For many a kettle is black and the possibility of a red kettle defies common sense and is therefore repulsive or argumentative..

Like someone has already said, only you know how you mean the question. But,what I have noticed on here is,there are allot of people just looking for an argument.Instead of having a healthy discussion on a topic with people having differences of opinion. Some just want to spew forth hate,as if theirs is THE only way to think.I really enjoy reading others opinion. What I don't understand,is these people that will go to a particular site, and rant and rave like some crazed lunatic, calling names like 3yr olds. And all because your thinking is different from theirs.I always go the "all categories" site. And I stay as far away from the politics questions as I can,and even allot of the religious questions, because there seems to be so much hate.People who call themselves Christian, spewing forth all kinds of hateful things. That one always leaves me wondering, what their interpretation of Christian is.And politics,I think they're ALL liers and thieves, and it's definatly not worth getting my blood preasure up,to argue who's side is the best liar. For me,being disabled, this is something I enjoy doing for a few hours a day,and I sure don't want to get into arguments on a computer, when I can go out in public and find a live person to fight with.(only kidding)I quit fighting after about the age of 17 when I realized,to each their own.And if you can't agree to disagree, then it's time to find other company to keep.I understand your question, and I would have to say allot of it rests in the hands of the answerer.Good point, and God bless

Yes. Some people are asking for others' opinions, some are making an argument.
It's easier to tell the "making an argument" posts, usually, either by phrasing or by their "details" but it can be hard to tell with the question-looking questions.
Some of those are genuine questions, others are people looking for agreement (as you can see by their comments when they chose a Best). Those are the ones that really bug me. I actually spend some time giving a balanced and thoughtful reply, just to learn that they were looking for someone to say "nuke them all!" or "they need god" or some idiot thing.
Why do you ask?

When someone asks for other peoples opinions then usually they just want to know what everyone else think/feel so that they can compare that to their opinions.
Sometimes it may be to stir things up and state their own opinions without really caring what anyone else thinks but usually you can tell the difference in their tone and what they say.

If it creates more than one opinion and two different opinions express their point of view to each other then you just started an argument.... but if u just ask the question and get different answers , then that is all u did !!! asked a question and got some answers

Well, I think that is pretty self-explanatory. If you ask for an opinion that is just what you are doing no matter the subject. You wish to know someones elses thoughts on a certain subject. I hardly see that as argumentative.

not necessarily its if you make a derogatory or disrespectful comment along with your 'statement' then you are asking for a rebuttal...if you truly want answers to anything, ask, listen fairly and without bias then decide. if you're really interested in what others say and feel don't come into a discussion with preconceived, biased or non-changeable ideas. there is room for us all in this world and all our beliefs but there is no room for religious police. its kind of like your avatar, you're making a statement right there and are leaving no room for discussion or debate as you already are firm in your belief..so why harass others for their beliefs...do you like being harassed for yours? i've read many of your posts and i don't think you really are interested in anyone else's opinion you are just wanting to argue yours. thats fine if you want to believe the way you do but don't be a religion nazi
