I don't get it. We're suppose to love our enemies.

Perhaps you meant, "How we must love our worst enemy, so much" or "How must we love our worst enemies? So much ... ". If either of these examples are correct, then your minister was probably about to explain that we should love our neighbors unconditionally, just the way Jesus did while he was on earth and the way he will do in the Resurrection of the dead. Any religion that follows this concept is following the command that Jesus stated when he said, "you must love your neighbor as yourself.

We are to love everyone even our enemies this doesnt mean to be buddy buddy with our enemies just that as Jesus did loves us unconditionally we are to love too. Unconditionally, not meaning that we are not going to change our bad ways but meaning that he knows all the wrong we did and still loves us.

Our enemies and the difficult people in our lives are the ones that truly help us to grow and mature.
I have had hurtful things done to me but I forgave those people because I could either seethe with bitterness and rage and unforgiveness OR I could say look how this made me a stronger person.
Enemies need to be prayed for and when you give this over to God you have true peace.

I am not sure of your wording.
Matthew 5:44
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you,do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45- That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
36-For if ye love them which love you, what reward have he? do not even the publicans the same?
47-And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so.

We cannot love our enemies unless we have Jesus in our heart and we cannot have Jesus in our heart unless we love Him.

Jesus preaches and practices love for each man or woman. So as quickly as we do the "toughest" ingredient, it is to love our enemies, we tutor our superb love for Jesus by using following his words and strategies.
