i have always drank a glass of milk to get rid of my heartburn...it coats my esophogus and in about 20 min i feel much better. Dont know if its just my body...but thats what works for me. If you dont feel any better by the end of the day...i would try calling your doctor to see if there's anything else you can take. My boyfriend uses Zantac for his acid refulx and it works in about the same time as when i drink milk. If you try a medicine like that, you should call your doctor or ask the pharmacist if it will mess with the medicine you're currently taking. Hope you feel better...i hate heartburn and acid reflux.

Hi there !

Take food at correct tmings.
Avoid spicy and too much of oily items...
Fried items , if avoided, better !
Take the antibiotics after the food !
If one antacid does not work, there are other options available for which I feel that your consultant will be a better judege of the occasion..
also...dont forget that milk, and also cold water.. are wonderful antacids...!

go back to the doc and see if they will give you a proton pump inhibitor, its a capsule that you swallow with water to slow the production of acid in your stomach. in the mean time try drinking a small glass of milk regularly and avoid anything spicy, dont drink coffee. alternative to the milk? try fruit tea stirred with a stick of cinnamon or a fruit tea with ginger in it.

It may not be heartburn. Acid Reflux can be harmful. It can damage your esophagus. Go see your doctor.

You can buy Prilosec over the counter at Wal-mart or drug stores. Works great but not for about an hour.
