To my first wife, I gave a high quality, 1.03 carat ring. To my fiance', I gave a high quality, 1.26 carat ring. Obviously, it was not going to fly to give my new gal a smaller, or the same size, diamond. :o)
If you're buying diamonds, go for the quality (cut, color, clarity) over just the size. I feel it's better to have a better looking, smaller, diamond than a big one that doesn't really show as well.

My husband gave me a 2 carat diamond. We actually agreed on it. My only request was that the stone be round because I checked out the shapes and knew that the round looked best on my hand. Its beautiful, simple & I totally love it. He also picked a perfect band to go with it.

The weight of the diamond in mine altogether is 1 karat. It has one pretty good sized diamond in the middle and about 12 diamond chips on each side.

My fiancee gave me 1.3 carats. I am divorced and have never recieved anything so big..or so nice for that matter. It is very beautiful and he even took the time to shop around and have it custom made for me. What a sweet guy. I am keeping him. Good luck.

2/3 carat, antique, platinum, with 10 surrounding tiny stones.
I would not buy a new diamond today cuz of the problems in Sierra Leone.

.25 carat in the engagement ring in one stone
.25 carat in the wedding band in three stones.
But they are certified flawless and prism cut (or whatever that's called) so they are really glittery.
They aren't very big but I hate big flashy rings with giant hunks of earth in the middle. They look great on other people but I think they look dumb on me. (I have rather dainty hands)

Mine all together is a 1/2 carat. I have a three diamond ring from Kay jewelry which is where we purchase all of our jewlery and then my wedding band has diamonds on the tops of the band and it is made to go with the three diamond ring. Then my promise ring has 7 little diamonds on it with two hearts.
Here is my engagement ring:

Here is my wedding band:

They don't carry my promise ring anymore!
