It just might be legal, (if you are sharing Windows 3.0).

Seriously though, file sharing is an infringement of copyright protection when the files being shared are not licensed for free or open distribution (public domain). Although it is doubtful that most will actually face civil or criminal penalties for it (unless they are running an open bootleg operation for profit), be reasonable: a company makes money selling its products. These products cost large amounts of money to develop and distribute (overhead).

Buy a software product from a reputable dealer and you will most likely save yourself hassles in the long run (updates, registration, technical support, etc.)

it is not legal to share software unless given promission from the producer. things like kazaa and limewire are illegal but since they do not have a base of severs holding files they are doing nothing wrong. its the users breaking the law not the company. its like sueing a gun company for some one shooting you. its not the companys fault...

It is not legal but MS doesn't bother much about individuals. This like free training and a publicity campaign. Once they get hooked, they will pay for the original.

It is illegal, but companies are not catching you becoz you are a individual not a company who is using the software for commercial purpose. But one day will come when they will catch you also.
