My sister is 10 years old and was diagnosed with OCD years back. The doctor has her on two different Meds for Anxiety and OCD. It doesn't help. She has fits no matter where she goes! Any ideas?

Just be there to support her. Learn about her issues, what things bother her, what rituals she "needs" to do - and help her. Telling her to be quiet or get over it is like telling a blind person to put on glasses - it doesn't help - it's not something that can be "Cured" - only "Treated". OCD will always be there, it's how you teach yourself to deal with it in order to function in society - and you can't teach yourself anything effectively if people make you feel like there is something wrong with you....

"No two children respond to anti-OCD medication in the same way"

I know of a 13 year old girl that has had OCD for several years, and once they found the right medicine...it changed her life. Tell your parents to find another doctor if necessary, but find the right medication for HER.

There is more info on the link that I have listed below:

good luck :)

Poor kid. I feel bad for her. I have had OCD since I was a kid, but not that bad. I grew out of a lot of it. When you say fits, I don't really know what you mean. Here is some info on OCD:

A Certified Behavior Analysis should be added to the treatment team to assist with modifying behaviors at home and in the classroom.

take her back to the doctor or to a different doctor. the thing is with anxiety medications and medications of the like, they dont always work for everyone.

generally you have to attempt a few medications before you find the right one.

Maybe a better diet or good example would help. If its mental and not controllable, I don't think there's much to think about.
