Regardless of what you believe, doesn't it make sense to not want to be attached to someone with opposing views on life?? It seems to me that would lead to much fighting. I personally don't like to fight, especially with someone I'd be living with. I'd rather find a mate that shares my beliefs and goals in life so we could work together toward whatever end we are shooting for.
A Christian is told that they shouldn't marry an unbeliever, for what place does light have with darkness? An atheist doesn't have a book of guidelines that I know of, so I would assume they don't have a reason based on their religion to not date outside. I just think it is common sense.

Some religionists, the some-what(?), I know not what, might not do it based on Bible verses denoting the righteous have no fellowship with the unrighteousness, and other verses denoting a believer is not to be unequally yoked; Which is to say two pulling the same load, but in opposite directions, would go no where unless one was stronger than the other.
And I notice the first to answer this question would not do it because it seems impossible to them for a religionist and an athiest to have fellowship, since they seem to be at war, the endless war of a mirror image with it's own likeness.
But as I see it, both these hypocritical partiality religionists and these no God athiests, them vs them, are pulling the same load of crap, and in the same direction, bwd unto "perdition", which is the "no escape" sort of "destruction" which comes upon "them", no matter which sort of two sorts of them(Adam) they might be.
As for "us", who are neither hypocritical religionists nor athiests on a religion & spirituality, God hath not appt'd "us" unto (law worketh) wrath, the destructive wrath of such law law, that eventually becomes the no escape sort of destruction. As for us it's construction only, no destruction at all; Which is to say grace only, no law law at all. For by grace only you're saved only, and notably from the law law going to and fro the earth these days, both via religionists and athiests being as children of Hatfields vs McCoys, where even McCoys feud among themselves over who's a real McCoy. And neither such servants of sin nor such servants of righteousness are above a servant, but still in bondage to childish servantish law law, not knowing the final payment to such law law piper piping is the sting of death, the ultimate sacrifice, of you and all the KofG within you.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Among my top criteria for a partner is intelligence. I have yet to find an acceptable level of intelligence in a religious person. So... the reason is not religious... but the effect is the same.

nicely, the only reason absolutely everyone does good issues is with the help of the staggering feeling they get after helping out. Doing staggering issues is particularly basically self-gratification. additionally, no, i does not date a spiritual man or woman. yet I additionally does not date an atheist. i'm no longer attracted to such issues. i'm asexual.

The only quality I immediately look for in a person that I consider to be a potential date/partner is that they possess a good heart. As that, to me, is the most important attribute, everything else is negotiable.

Don't know about atheists--but the Bible says to not be unequally yoked--why would you date someone that would pull you away from the Savior

Not for me, it doesn't. I am an unbeliever, and I don't ask my dates what their religion is.
