No matter what breed or age your dog might be it is very important to remember that you should NOT give your dog frequent baths and you especially have to pay attention to NOT using a strong shampoo (which, no matter what anyone tells you, MUST NOT be a shampoo for humans).
Once a month is ideal (some vets even say every two months). The reason for this time precaution is that dog skin and hair is sensitive to chemicals and it is not a part of their natural state to take baths on a regular basis. Especially if a dog is young, since he/she is prone to catching colds, vomiting and having a fever or diarrhea since his/her organism is still getting used to its' environment. Sort of like having a human baby. No need to panic, you just need to be careful since your dog is still very delicate and fragile.
If you give your dog a bath more than once a month - his/her skin and hair might become irritated, flaky, dry etc. And then it will become oilier as time goes by which puts you in an enchanted circle, if you get my point. Less than a month will result in the dog’s hygiene deteriorating not to mention bad smell. Also, whence giving your puppy a bath, make it an enjoyable experience 'cause you don't want to traumatize the pup and have it become scared of water. Rinse the shampoo off really well and try to reach all parts of her/his body EXCEPT FOR THE HEAD. Dogs can get severe ear infections or even partially loose their hearing if water goes directly inside. Instead, use a moist washcloth and gently clean the inside of the ear.
DO NOT BLOWDRY YOUR DOGS' COAT. Again, no matter what anyone tells you - YOUR DOG DOES NOT ENJOY THIS AND NEVER WILL as it also makes his/her coat dry and coarse. Instead rub it after the bath with towels and make sure the room temperature is set to normal. Oh, and depending on the personality of your dog, he/she might become hyperactive after the bath. This reaction is just due to the fact that:
a) They're happy to be released from the torture in the bathtub ;)
b) They know they're clean and loving it.

Use the opportunity when washing your dog to brush his/her teeth. Buy a really soft toothbrush and dog toothpaste. Don't force your dogs' mouth open, just pull up on the floppy skin around it and brush the tips of the teeth. If you get the gums, they'll start bleeding. You can avoid all of this by buying breath spray for dogs.

Good luck with the puppy!

Dogs usually get a bath every 6 months .

If you want to be super good though bath the dog no more than once a month or thier coat will dry up.

As for a puppy it is a good idea to get him used to being bathed as young as possible - just to make life easier on you when he's bigger.

It doesn't have to be a full on bath either - just a rinse (no soap) that way his coat won't get dry and the puppy gets used to bath time

There really is no set time that you SHOULD give your pet a bath.

It's great to give your dog a bath, with pet sensative products (check petco, petsmart or your local vet office). It's best to bathe your dog if he's been in tall grass where fleas and such could latch on, including ticks.

You can really bathe your dog as much as once a week to keep her smelling fresh and like a dog, so LONGS as you are using the correct PET SHAMPOO....hope this helps :-)

If you HAVE to bathe him, only once a week, and with an oatmeal shampoo, or aloe shampoo. If you can wait at least 2 weeks, that is better. Once a month is best. Our Great Dane has to have a bath once a week...sometime 2x a week (vet recommended for prescription shampoo).

I particularly have a jack russell and that they are so territorial! and as quickly as we've been given 4 different jack russells my dogs did a similar, yet hes no longer a violent dogs so it wasn't instinct to kill them, attempt to no longer supply the domestic dog greater affection than your jack russell because of the fact canines do get jealous, supply even quantities of love. Your jack russell basically feels threatened that youll choose the different dogs greater so what we did replaced into tie the canines down, you're able to try tieing the two canines up with 1meter area between them and flow away them on my own, they'll then comprehend they're equivalent, particular they could bark slightly yet finally they'll give up then flow them closer and dont make any touch with them your self, have them yearning to your interest and progressively the canines will comprehend their in a similar boat. they'll continually quarrel all canines do, yet this could give up it or a minimum of calm it down. All z superb! xx
