My son wants to go to a different puplic school in our area...we live on other side of the boundry line...The school (PUBLIC MIND YOU) said we could pay $12,000 tutiton for him to go...but that is crazy...There must be a way to get thru the loop hole. I also dont want him to go to the school on our side. The secretary said that we don't have open enrollment and that there is no other way than to pay...and that they check and verify addresses - so we can't lie about that either.....please help...my son is really counting on going there...and no we can't move.....

Sorry, your only option is to move. Loopholes in the system are what create havoc for our country!

Do you have a friend that lives in that district? If so, ask them if you can use their address on the application. Usually the school also requires proof by making you bring in something, like a bill(credit card or utility), to prove your residence. You can be crafty by temporarily changing your mailing address through your credit card company for one month, so that you have a bill(proof) to show the school.
Good Luck!

You have to pay or move. The property taxes where you live go (part of them) towards schools. SO if they let a non resident go for free they lose out on property tax too.

I believe that you dont have the means to move and to pay that tuition fees then its better for you to talk to him, calmly and tell him son, i dont have the means to pay this much, we cannot move. He needs to understand that the means to go to a different school are not there.
